While he at first appears to be standing next to a large and rather interesting looking pillar, when he turns and the camera seems to move with him, one gets a glance upward and can see that he's actually standing next to a lamp.

I'm under the impression that these sorts of things happen often. Quaint, really.

I have a proposition: While I can get about just fine in the confines of my own cabin, I've already learned that it will only get me so far, and I, for one, didn't think to hoard any food in here, since it's in such generous supply. I believe I may be able to concoct a solution -- a temporary one -- for those that simply will not be able to get on like this.

The trouble is that given the unusual nature of this place, I do not know what the side effects will be. [He looks around again.] Or if there will be any, come to think of it.

The magic here is strange, but it's still magic. And it doesn't look as though many of you, gifted though you may be, have done much to attempt to curb its effects. If this is successful, you can assume I will continue to experiment.

I don't suppose I've got any brave volunteers? I'll test it myself if need be. No charge during an emergency situation such as this, just taken at your own risk.

Everything you vie for in this place -- do they come with trust or your willingness to take a chance? It's all got a price in some shape or form. If in this case it means you're uncertain up until you drink it count yourself fortunate.

There is a risk of it not working or not sitting well with you if your world does not have similar magic to my own, perhaps. Either way, it is yours to take. The flood is over in a few days.

Report anything unusual you notice so that I can make a note of it. If these things are meant to happen regularly -- enough so that a few of you have been enduring them for years, then I think it's high time someone developed a curative.
